U7s Battle it out!

17/6/2006 Hazelbrook U7 Wolves (2) v Hazelbrook Panthers U7 (2)

The local derby this week was two Hazelbrook U7 teams battling it out at Gloria Park.
The undefeated Wolves were down 2-0 at half time after some very strong attack from the much improved Panthers.

However, the second half saw the Wolves fight back to level the score, both goals from the boot of Joshua Taylor.

Both teams used great football tactics and teamwork to make for a very exciting soccer game. Well done Hazelbrook!

Wolves man of the match this week was Jack Parry whose valiant efforts in the goals prevented a Panther's victory.

Match of the Week

U9/1 (3) Vs Emu Plains (0)

12 June 06

The Hawks turned in an impressive team performance in the return leg to take the game against Emu Plains. Jack Pople, having the best game of the season, led from the front showing how menacing he can be.

Bradie Smith and Zac Opdam teamed up in the mids to form a formidable partnership. On the edges Gavin Wadeley and Liam Foote once again showed their lightning pace and skill. Also playing their part the three Ben's, Ben Sanford, Ben Gethin-Damon and Ben McCallum all proved to be a handful. Not forgetting up front, Antonio Beretsos, who is always a thorn to the opposition.

The defence of Jack Adams, Nathan Cavanagh and Jacob Schensual would have been like hitting a brick wall, whilst the quick relexes of Harrison Gill, Hazelbrook’s goalie, kept the opposition scoreless.

From the President

Well the rain had to come and come it did. Last weekend was a wet one with many games played but some postponed. If you were lucky enough to play I hope you enjoyed the different weather conditions during your game – from some muddy fields to drenching rain.

We would like to thank Blue Mountains City Council for upgrading the light cover at Gloria Park. Also for installing a timer switch at Lawson Oval. This ensures we are saving on unnecessary wastage of electricity and also for the safety of our members.

A donation of senior training bibs was received from our Soccer Representative body Penrith Nepean United. We thank them for their kind donation which I am sure will be put to good use in the senior ranks.

Also a huge thank you to Steve Pronger who has so graciously given up a large amount of his time in getting our website up and running. This will definitely put us on the map as being in the “up to date stakes”. The website is for us all and if anyone has any suggestions or information they would like seen put on the website please contact us.

Our address is www.hazelbrookhawks.com

A Trivia Night has been organised for all members to enjoy. This is a truly fun night so start getting those table numbers organised. Our theme is Christmas in July. I am sure we will see some very jovial Santa’s on the night.

Enjoy your soccer
